Blogging is almost as hard as this running thing

31 Jan

Dear lord, I HATE blogging. But just like running, I’m going to do it anyway.

Catch up: Not much to report. Been running here and there. The fall attempt at training for the White Rock Half-Marathon went bust b/c, basically, of newbie ignorance. Went too fast at training and goobered up my knee. Then registration hit its max before I signed up, so it’s just as well. Then the holidays came upon me, so I took a rain check on the running-all-the-time thing.

I’m now training for the Austin Half-Marathon in February, at a much more realistic pace. A friend told me that I have to strength-train my quads so my knee doesn’t have to pick up the slack for my weenie muscles, and lo and behold — it’s working. However, with all this running I’m doing, you would think I’d either lose weight or lose fat. Not that I need to do either, but still. I swear my belly is flubbier than when I started. Makes no sense. Anyway, wish me luck.

I haven’t been trail running in a while, mainly because of the end-of-summer torrents we experienced here, then cooler weather began to set in. And I’d rather turn into a flacid, sedendary noodle than run in the cold.

However, I did run Dallas’ version of the YMCA Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day with Liz. Good times! 8 miles. I won’t talk about my time, though, because it was BAD.

So that’s where I’m at. Runny run-run-run!!
